Metro Detroit retailers facing face mask shortage in wake of coronavirus

(WXYZ) — The natural human response to the coronavirus making its way around the globe is to feel anxiety.

Naturally, we want to do something to prepare for the unknown.

And for many, that preparation includes buying a face mask. In fact, it’s getting harder to get your hands on one, making prices soar.

On Wednesday, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel issued a warning to Michigan residents to be alert about anyone trying to take advantage of coronavirus fears. A west Michigan retailer was found to be price-gouging, selling individual face masks in Ziploc bags for $10 apiece.
