(WXYZ) — Looking to earn some extra cash?

You no longer have to fill out applications hoping someone hires you.

7 Action News reporter Ameera David has some great part time gigs for 2020, so you don't waste your money.

More and more people are turning to the gig economy working a side hustle for extra income.

The most popular gig jobs these days involve driving because of almost no startup fees.

No a people person? Consider food delivery services like Door Dash or Uber Eats.

If you enjoy shopping, Instacart and Shipt combine grocery shopping with delivery, which can mean a bigger payout than just driving food.

Or maybe go back to more traditional options like walking dogs or being a babysitter.

If you're not a traditionalist, try joining the YouTube mania. Have a hobby like working on cars or crafting things? Make YouTube videos, and if you hit 1,000 subscribers – you start getting paid! But unless you become a YouTube star, don't expect to get rich.

One study claims most gig workers earn less than $500 a month.

  • Airbnb paid the most, averaging $440 a month.
  • Lyft averaged $210.
  • Uber averaged $155.
  • Task rabbit averaged $100.
  • Door dash averaged $100.

But money is money, and these are all jobs you can do as much or as little as you want with no boss watching you.

One more bonus gig job this spring: a U.S. census worker, where pay starts around $12 an hour.
