Ann Arbor was voted No. 1 in the country on Niche’s list of Best Cities to Live in America.
Grand Rapids was the only other city in Michigan to make the list, and it came in at No. 67.
The top five list includes Naperville, IL; Berkley, CA; Plano, TX; and Arlington, VA.
The list is a ranking of overall livability of an area and takes into account several factors such as location, quality of local schools, crime rates, household trends, employment statistics and access to amenities.
Higher education rate, which is the percentage of residents who have received a bachelor’s degree or higher -- carries the most weight-- and would explain why the college town won the title two years in a row.
Last year, Ann Arbor was ranked the city in America with the highest education, according to a study by WalletHub.
