A 64-year-old woman is recovering after three suspects were seen shooting off bullets in a residential area.

According to a release, the victim was standing inside of her home washing dishes when suddenly a bullet entered the house, shattering the dish she was holding and resulting in a cut to her arm.

Deputies responded to the 100 block of N. Anderson Street on a report that gun shots had been fired. The 911 caller said that several subjects were shooting at a residence on S. Marshall Street before fleeing northbound on foot.

Officers found spent shell casings on the ground in the area. After learning that a person had been injured from the shooting, police found that the woman had arrived at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital with a wound.

Police say it's unknown if the cut to the victim's arm was caused by the bullet or a piece of the broken dish she was washing.

Witnesses say the suspects fled in a gray SUV.
