An 81-year-old man died after a car accident on 23 Mile Road west of Schoenherr Road in Shelby Township on Friday.
Police received calls of a silver Dodge Ram 1500 driving in an erratic manner on eastbound 23 Mile Road. Minutes later, police received a call of an injury accident involving the Dodge and a Box truck at 23 Mile Road and Central Industrial Drive.
The 81-year-old was driving the Dodge, and a 66-year-old man was driving the Box truck. The driver of the Dodge died at the hospital while the truck driver was treated and released.
23 Mile Road was closed in both directions to traffic for hours while the accident scene was being processed. Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
