The Alzheimer's Association-Greater Michigan Chapter's Community Connect program is hosting a special event to those with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia and their care partners.
On April 24, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Henry Ford, guests will have the opportunity to view Henry Ford's collection of violins, learn about their history and watch a violin performance by Hai Xin, assistant concertmaster for the DSO.
The program was created to highlight the importance of social engagement for people with dementia and for the maintenance of a healthy brain in general.
Researchers believe that musical aptitude and appreciation are two of the last remaining abilities in dementia patients.
