A suspect barricaded gunman situation has calmed after officers found the scene to be safe.
Monday afternoon, the City of Melvindale posted a message on Facebook stating that area schools had been placed on lockdown, and that the public should avoid the area near Hanna and Elizabeth streets.
The incident began when Detroit Police officers were conducting a search warrant for a homicide suspect.
When police arrested the suspect, he made a threat regarding officers going inside of his home. That threat threat was taken seriously, prompting school lockdowns and streets being blocked off around the area.
After making entry into the home, police found the scene to be safe.
