RIVERVIEW, Mich. (WXYZ) — The body of a missing Trenton woman was discovered at a Downriver landfill facility Sunday afternoon.
Irene Kin, 86, and her vehicle were discovered in a remote area of the Riverview Land Preserve on Sunday, according to Trenton police. The vehicle had been set on fire, but police say foul play is not suspected in her death.
Authorities received a call regarding a vehicle fire at the landfill around 3 p.m. That vehicle was the 2002 Ford Taurus Kin was last seen driving on Feb. 1 when she went missing. Police discovered Kin's body in a different area of the landfill not long after.
Michigan State Police are assisting in the investigation, and the MSP arson team will determine the cause of the vehicle fire.
According to the medical examiner's office, her death was ruled an accident due to hypothermia.
