On Wednesday, May 16, the two right lanes of East Jefferson Avenue in Detroit from Lakewood to St. Jean Street near downtown sill be closed for the beginning of the East Jefferson Redesign project.
The lanes will be closed in both directions.
During the closure, there will be installations of dedicated parking lanes, bike lanes and new crosswalks. Two travel lanes will remain open at all time in both directions, according to a press release from the city.
One this section of East Jefferson is completed in early June, the project will continue west to Rivard with similar lane closures, the city says.
The entire project is expected to be completed by July 4.
