Como's restaurant in Ferndale isn't going away after all! But, there are big changes in store for the popular Italian dining location.

New owners have taken over the location as of June 6.

The Michigan Owners of Peas & Carrots Hospitality, Chef Zack Sklar, Jim Bellinson and Josh Humphrey, have acquired Como's.

Chef Sklar decided to maintain the namesake to preserve the community aspect of the well-known location.

Como's will remain an Italian restaurant and will offer nostalgic pizza-centric cuisine.

Peas & Carrots Regional Manager Michael Gray is leading the new venture, and is a Ferndale resident.

Chef Sklar frequented Como's growing up and was very excited to purchase the famed location.

"Ferndale is socially liberal, inviting, and aligns with our company's mission of acting as a melting pot for an eclectic group of people, Sklar said. "We love that Ferndale wants to remain Ferndale and values those family-owned style restaurants. Even as we have grown, we've managed to retain that sense of belonging, and we know that Peas & Carrots Hospitality is a great fit for the Ferndale neighborhood."

The same group of owners have successfully opened several restaurants including the popular Social Kitchen & Bar in Birmingham, Mex in Bloomfield Hills and many others.

Como's opening marks the 13th restaurant opening for Peas & Carrots Hospitality in six years.
