Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Michael Lewis Williams, 61, in connection with a fatal shooting of Patricia Ann Cosby, 55.

Detroit police officers responded to a 911 call on October 9, 2017, regarding a dog attack in the 9500 block of Goodwin Street in Detroit.

It is alleged that Williams, in an effort to assist the victim being attacked by a stray dog, fired a shot in the direction of the dog and shot the victim.

Officials say the defendant ran after the dog and fired two more shots. Upon his return, the defendant allegedly discovered that the victim sustained a gunshot wound.

Williams has been charged with Careless Discharge of a Weapon Causing Injury or Death.
