Detroit teen murdered before graduation, family pleads for community help

Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $2,500 cash reward for information on the murder of a Detroit teen.

Tra'Sean Courtney, 18, was murdered April 5 around 10:45 p.m. on Fenkell and Rutherford Street on Detroit's west side, police say.

According to the family, around 9 p.m. that night, Courtney was picked up by friends in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee to go hang out. Later that same night, an unknown suspect approached the Grand Cherokee and fired shots on Rutherford Street. Courtney was hit and killed by a bullet.

Courtney was two months away from graduating from Oak Park High School. He also worked at the Fountains of Franklin Nursing Home in Southfield.
