The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department is not fooling around. The team is going after business people skipping out on paying their water bills.
The crew is focused on the debts of the big fish first - those taking advantage of the little guys.
“When we have a commercial establishment that's making a profit off of Detroiters and they are not paying their water bill, that cost gets passed over to the people who can least afford it. This is a situation, we’re just not going to tolerate”, says Gary Brown, the Director of the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department.
One of the places he's set his sights on is the St. James Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Gratiot, which Brown says has a water bill that's well over 6 figures.
Brown's promising those who owe that the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department will track them down.
Watch as Brown sits down with 7 Action News about the issue that started in Detroit but lead them to Bloomfield Township.
