Parents say students are being bullied in metro Detroit and nothing is being done to stop it. One metro Detroit mother turned to 7 Action News sharing her story, and now, a meeting is happening where parents and staff can discuss what needs to happen next.

The original post that spurred this meeting has tens of thousands of shares on Facebook.

In the post, the mother says in part, "He began physically assaulting her, throwing her down on the ground, punching her in the stomach, punching her in the face, grabbing her and shoving her into the concrete sidewalk, verbally harassing her, and has even included Emma my KINDERGARTNER in some of these assaults. This bully has left marks on my children and has told Brianna he will never stop."

This isn't the first issue with bullying we've learned about at the Waterford School District. In January, we first reported a case of a 9-year-old at Cooley Elementary taking their own life, her father on Facebook saying it was due to bullying.

"Recently, my daughter was punched in the face by a fourth grade boy and on top of that the school has done nothing," Kaila Partlo said.

The school district has responded to our questions, with a statement saying, in part,  "We understand that prevention and intervention, as well as recovery, are necessary steps to create a culture of respect and safe learning. In this particular situation, meetings between the principal(s) and parents occurred to address the issue beginning last fall. We will continue our efforts and work with the parents to resolve this issue."
