Eastpointe police say that around 12:45 on Tuesday morning, four men used a stolen truck to break into Walgreens.
The man used the truck to break the glass window of the drive-thru pharmacy and steal two safes full of drugs.
An alarm inside Walgreens notified police, leading to a police chase.
The chase ended near Grayton and Nottingham, where the men left the truck and ran. Police were able to catch one of the four suspects.
“We work our butts off to have what we have and that's how they work, getting everybody else you know?” said Drema Shefsky who lives in Eastpointe.
Detroit Police say they are investigating more than 40 smash-and-grab robberies. That total doesn’t include this most recent smash-and-grab in Eastpointe, or another that happened last week in Grosse Pointe Park.
A few weeks ago, police asked for the public's help finding five men they believe have been responsible for a string of smash-and-grabs. Four of those five have been arrested, the only man still on the run is Ivan Austin. Investigators cannot say for sure if Austin is involved in this latest smash-and-grab.
