REDFORD TWP, Mich. — Redford Township police closed a murder case involving a mother and grandmother who was murder during 2018 home invasion.

The shocking announcement was made on the department's Facebook page.

Donna Kendrick-Rutherford, 65, was brutally murdered on Oct. 25, 2018 in the 19800 block of Five Points.

The victim's vehicle was taken after the homicide, according to police.

Police conducted a year-long investigation with multiple agencies including Michigan State Police, FBI Violent Gang Task Force, The Action Theft Task Force and the United State Secret Service, which yielded two suspects.

Martez Storey Webb, 25, and his juvenile girlfriend were identified as suspects in the murder.

In November, Redford Township police said Webb was shot by a homeowner in Detroit after attempting another home break-in. After being discharged from the hospital, he was shot and killed by a Wayne County deputy while being transferred to jail.

The Wayne County District Attorney denied charges against the juvenile suspects due to insufficient evidence.

The district attorney's office also said a deceased person cannot be charged with a crime.

Kendrick-Rutherford's family is still seeking justice and considering all options.
