Ferndale High School and Ferndale Middle School is closed Thursday, Superintendent Dania Bazzi said.
An employee of a third-party company that works with Ferndale Schools informed a loved one they would potentially harm themselves on the Ferndale High School and Ferndale Middle School campus.
Ferndale Police conducted a sweep of the building, but did not finish in time for officials to open school Thursday.
The employee has been found at their home, Bazzi said.
"I want to be very clear, there was no specific threat tot the students, staff or community of Ferndale," Bazzi said. We simply closed Ferndale Middle and High School today due to an abundance of cautions."
