The family of a 13-year-old from Mount Morris Township is mourning his death after he passed away from complications of a sinus infection.

Flint station WJRT reports family members of Marquel Bumley say they thought he was suffering from the common cold after he fell sick about four weeks ago.

Last Monday the sinus infection was finally diagnosed, and the family was told that it had spread to his brain. That diagnoses came after an MRI was performed, according to WJRT.

Surgery was performed, but blood clots began to cause trouble, putting pressure on his brain and depriving it of oxygen.

The family told WJRT they were told he was gone on Tuesday.

Now Bumley's family tells WJRT they're not angry, they're focused on grieving.

A GoFundMe has been set up for his funeral costs
