(WXYZ) — Being active, creative, and caring is important to Marissa. The 12-year-old, who’s currently in foster care waiting to be adopted, said she’d like to be a nurse when she grows up.

“The kind of nurse who always -- when you go in -- takes your blood pressure and takes your temperature and asks the questions,” said Marissa.

Her favorite subject in school is math, and she hopes to attend Michigan State University some day.

Her favorite activities keep her busy.

“I like to do gymnastics. I like to read and write and dance and play music and songs,” she said.

She also enjoys practicing putting on makeup and drawing pictures.

“I’m nice. I’m a happy girl. I’m beautiful, and I’m very energetic,” she said.

Traveling with her future family is something she looks forward to doing.

“I’d like to go to San Francisco, California, because I was born there. And I never got to really see how it was when I was there,” she explained.

Being adopted is her main goal. She's been waiting since June of 2017.

“My wishes would be to go to a forever family and live a happy life and, like, go to the park and hang out with each other."

She really can't wait for movie nights at home and maybe a sleep over with friends.

She’s open to having siblings, and she would enjoy pets in the house. But more than anything, she’d like to be adopted by a loving parent or parents.

“Just like hang out with us and keep us safe whenever we feel down or something. Keep us safe and make us feel like home,” said Marissa.
