Two Great Lakes Water Authority workers were caught seemingly asleep on the job.
The employees were caught asleep at the wheel of a department car, and pictures – taken by a passerby – have sparked an investigation.
The man who took the photos was picking up his godfather near Joy Road and Schaefer in Detroit when he snapped the pictures. He said he left to go to the grocery store, came back, and the workers were still asleep.
In a statement, Great Lakes Water Authority responded saying:
We want to thank WXYZ and its viewers for bringing this to our attention. Our team members work incredibly hard every day to ensure that safe, reliable and quality drinking water is delivered to the residents of Southeast Michigan. Sleeping while actively on duty is unacceptable, and falls far below the standards to which we hold our team members. We are taking this matter seriously and have begun an investigation. The appropriate action will be taken at the conclusion of this investigation.
