COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - A playground in metro Detroit for both kids with disabilities and able-bodied children alike just got one step closer to reality.
The groundbreaking on Scarlet's Playground, named after the granddaughter of former WXYZ anchor Stephen Clark and his wife, Larenne, was on Friday morning.
The 16,000-square-foot park will be located inside Dodge Park in Commerce Township.
Larenne says around $400,000 has been raised so far with a goal to raise $1 million. You can donate at ScarletsSmile.com.
"We decided to turn out attention to improving the quality of life not only for kids with SMA but with all kids with or without disabilities, with or without challenges," Stephen Clark said. "So we decided to go after a project where all kids can play together."
