Highland Park police: Person of Interest in murder case who escaped now in custody

A Person of Interest in a murder who previously escaped is now in custody.

Joseph Ivan Gray escaped after being taken to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit's New Center area. 

Gray was taken into custody two days ago, in connection with a November murder. He is considered a Person of Interest in a fatal stabbing at a West McNichols apartment building on November 3.

He was found at the Cranbrook House Motel. Police are now taking him to the command post in Highland Park.

Henry Ford Hospital later released the following statement about the incident:

The patient was brought by ambulance with no communication from police and no police supervision. The patient left on his own within 30 minutes wearing street clothes.
