A new documentary shining a light on untested rape kits across the country, including Detroit, will premiere nationally on Monday night on HBO.
Produced by actress Mariska Hargitay, known for her role as Lt. Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU, the film premiered on Sunday as part of the Detroit Free Press Film Festival.
It "exposes the alarming number of untested rape kits in the United States through a character–driven narrative, bringing much needed attention to the disturbing pattern of how the criminal justice system has historically treated sexual assault survivors," according to the film's website.
7 Action News Reporter Ameera David spoke with Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy about her role in the documentary.
