A Macomb County Sheriff's deputy was injured in an accident during a police chase Saturday morning.

The officer's condition is not yet known, police say. The accident occurred in Clinton Township at Gratiot and Wellington Crescent.

Around 9 a.m. Saturday, assisted Sterling Heights PD with a pursuit of a red Chevy Suburban with Texas plates on Schoenherr approaching 14 Mile. The Macomb County Sheriff's Department was also involved in the pursuit.

They terminated the pursuit on westbound 14 Mile approaching Maple Lane. Officials say the driver was wanted for a drug related offense.

Warren police officers located the car on Mound approaching I-696. A short pursuit began with the Suburban driving north on I-75 from westbound I-696.

The driver of the Suburban pulled to the curb and fled on foot.

Warren police officers apprehended the suspect at Dallas and Alger in the city of Madison Heights.
