The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office says a man is facing charges after a stray bullet struck and killed a 73-year-old woman in Riley Township in March.

According to the sheriff's office, the man, who has not yet been identified, is charged with careless discharge resulting in death and lying to a police officer.
The incident happened on March 25 at a home on Dunn Rd. Detectives say a neighbor was shooting target practice at the time, and he may have missed a large pile of dirt he was trying to hit.
The bullet went through the woman's home as she was sitting in the kitchen and hit her, killing her.
She was identified as Shirley Pfeil.
Two rifles were seized from the man's home.
He is not in custody but it is expected he'll make arrangements to turn himself in.
