A Downriver mother was sentenced to 12 months probation for leaving her infant child unattended in her car in the Southgate Sam's Club parking lot.

Jamie Lyn Stefanko, 35, was also ordered to complete an online parenting class and not drink alcohol or go to any establishments serving alcohol.
On March 14, a woman in the parking lot called 911 after she spotted the baby unattended in the car.
Southgate police officers arrived at the parking lot on Northline Road and arrested Stefanko at the scene.
