Metro Detroit teen dies after crash in Washington Township

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - The Macomb County Sheriff's Office says a teen died after a single car crash early Saturday morning in Washington Township.

According to police, they were called to the scene near 28 Mile west of Mount Vernon around 4:20 a.m. after a passing driver saw a vehicle on the side of the road near a tree.

When deputies arrived, they found the teen trapped underneath a 2006 black Dodge Dakota pickup truck.

He was later identified as 17-year-old Gavin Miller from Washington Township. No other people were located and it was later learned he was the only driver in the vehicle.

Right now, the sheriff's office continues to investigate the crash.
