A west Michigan man was injured when a turkey flew through the windshield of the truck he was driving on Tuesday evening in Dutton, south of Grand Rapids.

According to the Dutton Fire Department, the driver was behind the wheel of a brand-new F-150 when the bird went through the windshield.

"The turkey is no joke; they will absolutely destroy a vehicle, especially if you're unfortunate enough to encounter more than one," the fire department wrote. "They don't often sit in the road as you drive over them. They attempt to take flight, and you will find them right about face level as they do."

The fire department said the man suffered facial injuries but will be OK.
