Michigan State Police is ready to crack down on those who text and drive.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness month, and all month long patrols will specifically be looking for people texting and driving carelessly.

The "U Drive, U Text, U Pay" enforcement campaign aims to conduct enforcement of anti-texting law.

Michigan's texting law prohibits drivers from reading, manually typing or sending a text message while driving. Drivers convicted of a first offense may be fined $100, with subsequent offenses of $200.
