Neighbor: Man saves son, mother from house fire in Madison Heights

Three people escaped a house fire in Madison Heights early Monday morning.

The fire was at a home on West Hudson Road.

A neighbor told WXYZ that three people a man in his 40s, his son, who is about 8 or 9 years old and his mother, who is in her 60s all made it out.

According to the neighbor, the man got his young son out first and then went back into the burning home to save his mother.

Moments after they exited the home, there was a loud explosion. Neighbors believe it was the woman’s oxygen tank.

The man and his mother are being treated at a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation.

The family had several dogs. The neighbor told WXYZ that at least one dog made it out.
