DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police released new video in a homicide investigation and they need your help finding a person of interest.

Police say they found the body of a young woman deep inside a dumpster on the city’s east side Wednesday.

One woman living in the Parkview Apartments, who didn't want to be identified, says she's worried.

"Scared and afraid," she said.

Detroit police now need your help identifying a person of interest and a dark colored vehicle wanted in connection to the homicide.

"I was like oh my God," the unidentified woman said. "Scared to go up and down the elevators all day. I have a daughter, mom and it’s scary."

Police say the body of a 26-year-old woman was found deep inside the dumpster at the apartment complex.

"Every night I take out the trash and I look in the dumpster and I think, what if there’s someone in there, then it turned there was somebody in that one," said Nathaniel Woods, a worker at the nearby Coleman A. Young Community Center. "It’s really scary."

Woods says it’s normally a peaceful area, never anything bad happens in that area.

"It’s very surprising that happened out here because there’s a lot of older folks homes around," Woods said. "It’s pretty quiet so I wouldn’t expect it."

Officers say she had an altercation inside the apartments that was all caught on video. Folks say the faster police find whoever did this, the more comfortable they’ll feel.

"They’ve been out here since it happened and stuff, making sure everyone’s OK," the unidentified resident said. "So that’s a relief but it’s still scary all together."

The person of interest is described as a black male with a medium build, he was seen wearing a dark colored sweatshirt with a hood and wheat colored boots. If you know anything, Detroit police want to hear from you.
