A vacant building in Royal Oak is set to get a 'luxurious' makeover.
Singh Development LLC has announced plans to revamp The Griffin, a mixed-use development at the intersection of I-696 and Woodward Avenue.
The property was acquired through a request for proposal process from the Royal Oak Downtown Development Authority, after being vacant for years.
The Griffin will have 245 apartment homes in a variety of studio, one-, two- and three-bedrooms. Rent is expected to range from $1,400 to $3,000.

The apartments will also be above 10,000 square feet of commercial retail space. No word yet on which retailers look to occupy the development.
