An urgent health alert has been issued for some people living in Port Huron.
The State of Michigan is encouraging residents to be tested for lead, and the warning is for those who live in the neighborhoods surrounding the Mueller Brass factory.
According to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, elevated lead levels were found in soil samples near the factory.
The health department is notifying residents by email, and urging them to get tested.
Increased lead levels were detected about a year ago, and since then the state has been monitoring the area.
