One person is dead and four others are injured following a crash after a police chase in Port Huron.

The crash occurred at 24th and Dove Wednesday morning.

An officer was on patrol in the area of 22nd and Bancroft when he saw a white Camaro traveling westbound Bancroft at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle did not stop and was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph.

The vehicle continued southbound and appeared to have ran the red light at Dove, striking the side of a second vehicle traveling eastbound Dove. During the crash, a third vehicle close to the intersection was also struck.

Both vehicles came to a rest on the eastern edge of 24th Street, with the victim's car upside down. The driver of the suspect vehicle, a 35-year-old Port Huron resident, and three male passengers were taken to local hospitals with serious life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle that was struck, a 49-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the third vehicle was checked out at the local hospital for non-serious injuries.

Police say the case is under investigation.
