Neighbors reported seeing someone destroying trees Wednesday night along Cousino Drive, says Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer.
The trees are located outside of people's homes and were planted recently as part of a neighborhood improvement project.
The mayor says the trees will all have to be replaced and charges will be pursued against the person responsible for the vandalism.
"They need to find them and arrest them for this," a neighbor said. "I mean, who does that?"
Police say they may have surveillance video from a nearby location that could be used to locate the suspect. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact Warren police right away.
