Michigan State Police say a freeway shooting occurred on eastbound I-94 in Detroit early Saturday morning.
At 5 a.m., MSP was advised by the Detroit Police Department about the shooting. Police say the victim is currently at a hospital in critical condition.
According to police, preliminary information is a driver and passenger had left a bar and were traveling on I-94 near Van Dyke at about 2:30 a.m.
The driver and passenger heard a pop, and the driver felt pain, police say. He exited the freeway and the passenger took over driving and drove to Receiving Hospital.
Eastbound I-94 at Mt. Elliott was closed while detectives attempted to locate any evidence and investigated whether the shooting actually took place on the freeway.
