Warby Parker will soon be opening a second store in Michigan, this time at Troy's Somerset Collection, the eyewear retailer announced Tuesday.
The Troy location will open on Saturday, May 19. This news comes just two years after the retailer opened its first location in Michigan on Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit.
“We’re so pleased to be opening the doors of our second store in the Detroit area," said co-founder and co-CEO Dave Gilboa. "Troy’s historic foundation and thriving entrepreneurial spirit made it a given for our newest location. We can’t wait to meet more of the great customers here in Troy.”
Warby Parker launched as an online venture, and has since expanded to over 65 retail locations, with two stores in Canada.
According to a release, inside the new store customers will find design details reminiscent of a classic library, along with an original mural by Detroit visual artist Jesse Kassel. His punchy artwork is filled to the brim with Michigan’s most iconic landmarks and historical moments.
And to celebrate the new location, Warby Parker will be releasing a pair of limited-edition, Somerset-exclusive sunglasses called Percey in Crystal with Flash Mirrored Silver lenses. The frames are described as classic with a rounded shape, mixed with eye-catching lenses that make for a sharp combination that customers will only be able to find at the Somerset.
The retailer will also be expanding to Ann Arbor later this year.
