Detroit Police are investigating a home invasion on Womer Street near Telegraph and McNichols.

A man was sleeping in the first home was awakened by the break in, got into an altercation with the man and was shot in the backside.

He’s been taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

Several shots were fired and one went through the wall of the house across the street.

Aaron, the man inside, said he thought it was firecrackers or small caliber gunshots but then knew a bullet hit his house when he heard plaster fall off the wall where the bullet hit.

He says two babies were in a bedroom in the basement but his 8-year-old stepdaughter was in the line of fire on the couch watching TV.

He told her to “get on the floor.”

Police have not released a description of the man in the home invasion but said he left in a black Dodge Charger.
