DETROIT (WXYZ) — Police are looking for a suspect after a barricaded gunman situation on Detroit's west side.

Police say the situation began around 12:30 a.m. Monday at a home on Hazelwood near Rosa Parks and Clairmount.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call of a 24-year-old woman being assaulted by her 26-year-old boyfriend. Police say they have a 1-month-old baby.

When officers arrived, they were met by the woman's father, who expressed concern for his daughter. Police saw movement in the windows, but no one answered the door or the phone after repeated attempts.

The father told police that the man owns a handgun; eventually, the woman and baby came out of the home, but the man had fled from the location.
