A Macomb County woman is crediting some local heroes for bringing her back to life.
On Saturday, January 13th, Kathryn Bianchini stopped breathing. Her son dialed 911 and the call was put on speakerphone.
Bianchini's husband of 25 years, Jeff, didn't know how to do CPR, but within seconds, he was getting calm, step-by-step instruction from Macomb County dispatcher Samantha Van Vooren.
At the same time, fellow dispatcher Elizabeth Calabris dispatched the Sterling Heights Fire Department.
Within minutes, paramedics from Sterling Heights were there and resuscitated Kathryn.
"It's a very small percentage of people that come back. It wasn't my time," she says.
The Bianchini's recently got to meet her heroes from the Sterling Heights Fire Department and Macomb County dispatchers Samantha Van Vooren and Elizabeth Calabris.
Van Vooren says, "It's just my job. It's just what I do .. it's what I'm here for. It's amazing to know those kids have a mom. He still has a wife and they get to continue their lives together."
Kathryn later found out it all happened because a virus had attacked her heart.
As for the rest of the family, they are all taking planning to take CPR classes.
Kathryn says she feels lucky and blessed to be alive and the whole ordeal has given her and her family a new perspective on life.
