Donation of 10 bicycles will help homeless men and women rebuild their lives

We know our homeless here in metro Detroit need a great deal of help from all of us to turn their lives around.

Sometimes that help can come from what many people may see as a little thing. However, for someone else, it could sure mean a whole lot: like a bicycle to get them to job interviews, appointments and allow them to seek those opportunities that can help change their lives.

Transportation that can truly be transformative.

Ten bicycles were kindly donated to the homeless men and women at The South Oakland Shelter in Lathrup Village. The bikes were donated Dunham’s Sports in Southgate and Applied Imaging in Novi.

A shed to store them was a gift from the folks at Rebuilding Together.

“We are very, very grateful for this”, says Ryan Hertz, President and CEO of South Oakland Shelter.

Now, the new bicycle shed needs to be painted. Rebuilding Together is looking for youth volunteers to do so on May 12th - ages 12 to 18.
