FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Farmington Hills Police Department says they have located the man they say was suicidal and in need of medical assistance.
Police say in the Middlebelt Road south of 10 Mile Road area in Farmington Hills, a 28-year-old woman said she was sexually assaulted around midnight Wednesday.
She told police she was assaulted by her male friend, who afterwards became upset and began cutting himself with a knife and fled the residence.
The victim was treated by paramedics and was taken to a hospital for further treatment.
The suspect, identified by police as 31-year-old Jesse Newton of Redford, was reported in the area of Canfield Avenue located east of Middlebelt between Nine and Ten Mile Roads. Police say it was reported that Newton allegedly knocked on the front door of a residence, and when the resident answered the door, Newton reportedly entered the home, took a knife from the house and punched the homeowner when he attempted to stop him from leaving.
Police said he was taken into custody in a nearby community and is currently being treated at a local hospital.
