A Rochester Hills husband walked into the Oakland County Sheriff's substation Monday morning and said he had just killed his wife.
She was found shot to death on the sofa inside their home on Emmons Street. Police have identified her as 41-year-old Cory Ehlers.
The husband says they were going through a bad divorce. They have been married 9 years and have two elementary school age kids, a son and a daughter.
They also each have an older son from previous marriages.
The man's name has not yet been officially released.
Larry Chalcraft has known the wife for some 20 years living in the neighborhood. He says he’s surprised because the husband was always friendly, shoveled snow and the family would come over for Easter egg hunts.
Formal charges are expected to be issued after the full investigation is completed.
