It is the first day of Spring, even though it doesn’t really feel like it. Many say this winter was a little too cold for their liking, which is why they have been jetting off to warmer weather.
“As soon as the first snow hits the ground we get calls about people wanting to get out of town,” said Lisa Simon.
She is a travel agent with The World of Travel in Bloomfield Hills. They’ve seen an uptick on folks trying to get away from the cold weather.
Lisa says they’ve booked more cruises leaving out of Florida this season than last.
For last minute deals, all-inclusive resorts are a popular choice.
“Punta Cana, Jamaica, Mayan Riveria, some Cabo,” Lisa suggested.
Detroit has many direct flights to Florida, Mexico and the Caribbean.
For weekend getaways, Lisa says non-stop travel is the way to go.
“Someone will say St. Lucia and I will say that’s great except it takes half a day to get there.”
Lisa says travel agent can help you figure out what’s best for your plans and pocket.
“We just make it seamless, just tell us what you want and we take care of everything.”
