BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — Police say they are looking for a man suspected of stealing a gun out of an unlocked car in a Bloomfield Township neighborhood.

On Feb. 10, police say they were called when someone reported items stolen out of their car.

In all, they found four people with items taken from their car, including a Glock handgun. All of the cars were left unlocked.

“The guy was very thoughtless, he should have never left that thing in there without the vehicle locked,” said Rick Rienecke, who lives in the neighborhood where the gun was stolen.

“We don’t ever want a handgun out there in somebody's hands that it doesn’t belong in,” said Sgt. Dan Brown with the Bloomfield Township Police Department.

Brown says a stolen credit card from one of the cars was used at a gas station near Woodward Avenue and Eight Mile Road in Detroit.

Pictures from the gas station were compared to home surveillance systems in the neighborhood.

If you think you know who the man in the photo is, call the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248-433-7755.
