Bloomfield Township police are investigating a stabbing that occurred late Monday.
According to police, a man stabbed a teen while he was out riding his bike in Bloomfield Township.
The incident happened on Ward Road near Klingensmith Road.
“Very shocked because nothing happens around here at all,” Sean Dunleavy said.
He has lived near Ward Road for the past eights years and says the area is really quiet.
“We’ve had some car break-ins, tires been stolen, stuff like that but that’s about it,” he said.
That’s why he was surprised to learn on 7 Action News This Morning that police are looking for a man who they say stepped in front of a 17-year-old riding a bike on Ward around 9:30 p.m. Monday night, and demanded the teen hand over his wallet, backpack and bike.
Police say the two began fighting when the man took out a knife and stabbed the teen twice while threatening to kill him.
The victim got away, telling police the suspect took off with his bike.
Police describe the attacker as a black man in his mid 20s, at least 6 foot, 2 inches tall, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with black drawstrings, black Adidas athletic pants with a white strip down the sides, a purple bandana and black Nike shoes.
Dunleavy is nervous because he walks on Ward Road everyday.
While he’s noticed more patrols in the area since last night, he says more needs to be done to make the area safer.
“There should be another light somewhere, a light post or something,” he said.
Anyone with information or recognizes the description of the suspect is encouraged to call the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248-433-7755.
