Troy Fire Department extricates driver from multi-vehicle crash

TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Troy Fire Department extricated a vehicle involved in a multi-vehicle crash on Wednesday.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Crooks and Long Lake Roads.

One driver had become entangled inside of his vehicle and was not able to get out without assistance.

Officials say his removal process was lengthy; firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove the driver's door. Hydraulic cutters were used to remove the post that separates the front and back doors. Firefighters were at the scene for 45 minutes.

The patient was treated but his condition is currently not know. There were two minor patients in the car as well – their conditions are not known, but are not believed to be serious.

Troy police are investigating the accident.
