In 2018, 10 children under the age of 18 were shot, according to Detroit police. One shot was self-inflicted. None of them fatal.

“This senseless crime is happening to these innocent kids, my baby didn’t deserve this, no kid deserves this," says Lamar-Williams.
This mother knows what it’s like to hear gunshots ring out and have a bullet hit her baby. Her now 11-year-old daughter, India, became a victim in 2014.
Friday morning’s news of another child shot in the city of Detroit, wounded by a weapon, took her breath away.
“When they said the age and what happened, I’m like this has got to stop, it has to end. I just got goosebumps instantly. She was just taking her daughter to school. I’m trying to hold tears back because I can’t imagine whats she’s going through right now," she said.
