In 2018, 10 children under the age of 18 were shot, according to Detroit police. One shot was self-inflicted. None of them fatal.

One kid shot, killed is quite frankly one too many. We can not run or turn a blind eye to the frightening
facts.

Clinqute Lamar-Williams won’t dare let you.

“This senseless crime is happening to these innocent kids, my baby didn’t deserve this, no kid deserves this," says Lamar-Williams.

This mother knows what it’s like to hear gunshots ring out and have a bullet hit her baby. Her now 11-year-old daughter, India, became a victim in 2014.

Friday morning’s news of another child shot in the city of Detroit, wounded by a weapon, took her breath away.

“When they said the age and what happened, I’m like this has got to stop, it has to end. I just got goosebumps instantly. She was just taking her daughter to school. I’m trying to hold tears back because I can’t imagine whats she’s going through right now," she said.
