A 12-year-old girl has been expelled from Everest Academy in Independence Township for reportedly making a "kill list."

Deputies responded to the school after a student's parents spoke to the principal regarding threats another student had made.

The parent told the principal that the student had produced a "kill list" and his daughter's name was on it. Administrators called the Oakland County Sheriff's Office to make local authorities aware.

The parents and guardians of children who were on the list are being advised of the incident. The principal said he had spoken to the student and she told them that the list was a joke and was made a long time ago.

According to the child's mother, she has no access to firearms.

School administrators did not believe the threat was credible, but are following school policy by expelling the student permanently.
