The Troy Police Department cleared up misconceptions on a report of an attempted abduction.
They made a post on their Facebook page Friday saying they are aware of a viral social media post claiming that a woman was nearly abducted after a suspect attempted to subdue her with chloroform.
Troy Police say there have been no reports of any attempted abductions, suspicious circumstances involving chloroform or anything at all like this in Troy.
"We would encourage residents not to repost or share the hoax message as it can lead to unwarranted feelings of insecurity and fear," they said in the post.
